Forest of Dean Korean War and Imjin Veterans' Memorial

Located in the Cryil Hart Arboretum, Coleford, the Forest of Dean Korean War and Imjin Veterans' Memorial was unveiled  in a Ceremony of Dedication on 24 April 2026.

 

The memorial honours all Armed Forces personnel and provides a lasting legacy to the soldiers who fought in the Korean War, 26 June 1950 - 27 July 1953.

 

It also pays special tribute to sixteen veterans associated with the Forest of Dean who fought with 1st Battalion, The Gloucestershire Regiment  - The Glosters - in the Battle of Imjin River, 22 - 25 April 1951.

 

The battle played a pivotal role in the United Nations' peace-keeping efforts to ensure a democratic future for Republic of Korea.

Visitor Information

The Cyril Hart Arboretum is open from dawn to dusk free of charge every day of the year.

 

Dog walkers are asked to keep their dogs on leads.

 

Free parking is available and there are 2 disabled parking spaces.

 

To locate the memorial, enter the arboretum via the main gate and turn right. The memorial is located approximately 100 metres from the car park and approximately 30 metres from the wheelchair-friendly path.
